| General Overview | Jaslyn's childhood was happy and uneventful compared to most elves in Val Royeaux. But then she was betrayed by her best friend, blamed for a justifiable homicide, and recruited to the Grey Wardens with the expectation of becoming a hero. Now she finds herself fading into useless obscurity with the rest of her order. Her attitude is somewhat fatalistic. Jaslyn lives for the danger, the thrill, the pleasure in the moment. As a Grey Warden, she knows her life will be short even if she doesn't die fighting darkspawn, and because of the darkspawn taint in her veins she can never have children. She is passionate and opinionated, protective of the weak, and contemptuous of the foolish. She is Andrastrian and believes in the Maker, though it might not seem like it because of how often she blasphemes. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Agile and fast. Skilled with dual blades. A competent killer. When overcome by the heat of battle, Jaslyn experiences blood lust that borders on berserker. In this state of mind, she tends to take unnecessary risks. Will hesitate to kill if the enemy are not darkspawn. Understands perhaps too well the gray area between good and evil is wide and unclear. Fears being taken captive by darkspawn and transformed into a brood mother. Says what's on her mind, regardless of how it may impact others' opinion of her. Thinks tact is a burden forced on the powerless. Well educated for an elf raised in Val Royeaux, but knows few Dalish language words, and only basic elven culture. When she has a goal, she tends to focus on it single-mindedly. |

| Personal History | Jaslyn was born to servants of the Dimont household, a minor Orlesian noble family in Val Royeaux. She was raised alongside the noble family's only child, the beautiful and headstrong Helana, one year Jaslyn's elder. Though an elf, as Helana's best friend and companion Jaslyn was afforded many advantages over other city elves including a second-hand education, access to the noble family's library, and basic training in wielding dual daggers as Helana's sparring partner. In 9:30 Dragon, when Jaslyn was 19, Helana married Antoine Marchal, son of another minor noble family in Val Royeaux. As her maid, Jaslyn accompanied Helana and joined her new household. Though charming and apparently good-natured whilst courting Helana, it soon became apparent that Antoine needed her dowry to pay off his debts. Before long Antoine was in debt again, drinking heavily, and taking out his drunken fury on his wife and any servant who tried to stop him. Until the morning after a particularly bad night, when the screams of Antoine's mother summoned the city guard to Antoine's suite where they found Helana and Jaslyn severely beaten but alive, and Antoine dead, a dagger lodged in his chest. Jaslyn, being an elf, was charged with his murder. It was Jaslyn's luck – good or bad, she was never sure – that she avoided the hangman's noose when a senior Grey Warden named Riordan recruited her. Jaslyn survived the joining ritual, and with the Grey Wardens experienced true equality among humans, elves, and dwarves for the first time in her life. She trained and waited in Jader with other Grey Warden recruits, ready to cross into Ferelden to battle the darkspawn horde. But Teyrn Loghain closed the border and within a year the Hero of Ferelden ended the Blight without the Orlesian Grey Wardens. Jaslyn idolized Riordan, but he snuck across the border soon after recruiting her, and Jaslyn never saw him again. Currently Jaslyn's Grey Warden assignments are few and far between. She takes mercenary work when she can get it. Jaslyn has a room in the Grey Warden barracks south of Jader, but most of her comrades have gone to the main contingent in Val Royeaux, a place she vowed never to return. |
