April 2022 on Dragon Age: Legacy

Summary of posts completed in April:

We continued the story of how Katya and Kalian became friends 3.5 years in the past during the blight. Kalian accompanied Katya and the children in the wagon, and drove the unaccompanied refugee children to the orphanage. The children are reassured and welcomed by Miss Caroline and the other children, all of whom are well cared for. Then Katya invites Kalian to help her with a project, building a puppet theatre for the children. Once complete, the two demonstrate by putting on a puppet show telling the children a story about brave and clever children who save their town from bandits.

Back in our regular timeline, on the second day of Summerfest (in the middle of our hero's poisoned wine investigation), Jader is abuzz with the news that old man Charbonnet has died. Katya is chatting with Kalian at the Raven's Roost tavern when a runner arrives, saying that Miss Caroline wants Katya to come to the orphanage right away, and bring Kalian. Miss Caroline Charbonnet reveals to Katya that she is her mother and Caroline's husband Thomas - Katya's father - died before Katya was born. Katya's grandfather agreed to support Caroline and the orphanage only if Katya was raised as an orphan. But, now that old man Charbonnet is dead, Caroline can tell Katya the truth. Kalian and Katya talk about Katya's feelings, and the possible repercussions of the news.
