December 2021 on Dragon Age: Legacy

Summary of posts completed in December:

On the morning before the first day of the Summerday festival, Elinowy welcomed the day by singing the Cant of Light whilst moving through her marshal art forms. A guest in Martin and Raoul's home, Elinowy and Martin shared breakfast. Elinowy spoke nostalgically of her home in Bete Noire. Martin spoke of training to be a Templar but leaving the order because it wasn't his calling (but evaded saying specifically why!)

Whilst Elinowy sought out alchemical ingredients for a surprise she planned to make for the festival, Martin asked her about her overtly negative view of elves. She said it was because she'd had unpleasant experiences with elves and because elves had bound themselves to magic and turned away from Andraste.

Whilst the Summerday Festival opening ceremony was in progress, Cainan was at a wine bar, the Petit Garçon Batteur, meeting an old associate named Karoline, a sophisticated and beautiful player of The Game and a master spy with connections in high society and roots in low society.

After a subtle attempt at flirting by Karoline and speculation about a change in Cainan, they talked business. Cainan gave her a name on a piece of paper and asked Karoline to find out whatever she could about the person. They concluded their negotiation, then Cainan made his way to the festival to find Jaslyn.

Jaslyn and Kithris had met during the opening ceremony of the festival, and continued their conversation. Kithris was hoping to find an elf she'd recently reconnected with in Jader named Blaine, while Jaslyn scanned the crowd, hoping to see Cainan. Kithris explained that Blaine needed her help. Jaslyn invited Kithris to enjoy the festival with her and said they might be joined by her lover, Cainan.

They decided to get drinks then shop, but were accosted by a group of elven youths who offered to sell them two bottles of wine. Kithris and Jaslyn are suspicious. Jaslyn bought the bottles, but put them in her rucksack, intending to take them to Hahren Liriel in the morning.

Jaslyn leads Kithris to a brewmaster's stall, and they order beer. Kithris reminisces about Dalish brews, mosswine, and her clan's potion maker, Darshee, and Jaslyn is intrigued. Kithris intends to return to her clan, and invites Jaslyn to go with her.

(Posted in November: Martin, Rhiannon, and Kalian had found the suspect empty wine bottle, its contents apparently responsible for poisoning Jerard the miller's friend Arnould.)

Kalian, Rhiannon, and Martin searched the festival for the elves selling the distinctive wine bottles, or anyone else who had bought some. The search was unproductive, but then Martin noticed a human woman who was sick. She had a bottle of the same wine, but she'd drunk only a little – and it was coming back up.

The woman, a perfumer named Emilie Gerfaut, confirmed she bought the wine from a pair of wandering elves. Rhiannon said she could test the remaining wine for poison with the right materials, that Kalian thought they could acquire from the Dominic Lesprin, the potion master.

Meanwhile, Jerard returned to where two guardsmen were preparing to carry Arnould's body away, and broke down crying. Elinowy responded by comforting him, then singing to him of the Maker's compassion.

Martin, Rhiannon, and Kalian heard Elinowy's song and joined her. Guardsman Johann was suspicious of Martin - conducting an investigation with the help of civilians again - but he and Guardswoman Audrey took the body away.
