22nd Fleet awarded us the Sim of Valor! How awesome is that?
Accolade: "For the inaugural month of our newest award, the Awards Committee has decided to award November’s Sim of Valor to a Sim that has done well with making its stories accessible to newcomers, and its writing quality is excellent. As a Non-Trek, Non-Main Stream franchise Sim, that is not an easy thing to do."
Summary of posts during November:
Kalian and Elinowy accompanied by her escort Cainan, went to the Guardhouse to make their witness statements regarding the mugger and were temporarily hindered at the door by three departing guards. Martin welcomed Kalian and Elinowy. Upon meeting Cainan Sauvage for the first time, Martin realized he was the 'Mister Sausage' reported for beating up a Fereldan mercenary.
Whilst Elinowy and Kalian signed their witness statements, Martin questioned Cainan about the incident involving the Fereldan mercenary. Cainan declared he was only defending a lady and teaching the Fereldan a lesson. Though suspicious of Cainan's true motives, Martin did not press charges and admonished Cainan to avoid tavern brawls in future. The four discovered they were all headed to the refugee camp to investigate the disappearances and exchanged information.
Martin, Kalian, Cainan, and Elinowy walked to the refugee camp, and Jaslyn followed at a distance waiting for an opportunity to speak to Cainan. The refugee camp was a poverty-stricken, desperate place, built up around the Jader workhouse. Cainan, Kalian, Martin, and Elinowy each reacted in their own ways to the general squalor and obvious lack of food and shelter. Their group was approached by several refugees asking for work and in response to seeing the Chantry sister, one man began singing the first canticle of Andraste – quite badly. Elinowy sang with him, and her strong and beautiful voice united the refugees within hearing distance in a spiritual experience. Jaslyn took advantage of the distraction to draw Cainan away from the others.
Kalian, Martin, and Elinowy observe Cainan speaking with an elf (Jaslyn) outside the refugee camp. The three of them questioned a Fereldan man named Breagon and show him the suspicious flyer. Breagan told them he didn't trust the offer, but knows a woman named Isla whose sister may have applied. Elinowy asks Breagan to take them to her.
Breagan takes Elinowy, Martin, and Kalian to Isla's hovel, and Isla agrees to speak to them. Kalian befriends Orla's part-mabari dog Snowball. Elinowy invites herself and the others into Isla's home and offers Isla spiritual comfort by creating a mini funeral pyre at the base of Isla's Andraste statuette. Martin questions Isla about her sister and they learn where Orla went to meet a female dwarf who offered the job. Orla has been away four days, though she expected to be gone a while. Isla mentioned two other Fereldans that took the work, none had returned. Also, Orla's adopted son Seamus works at the docks as a scrubber. Elinowy completed her ad-lib ritual to Andraste by smudging ash on her own forehead and Isla's. Outside the hut, Kalian, Martin and Elinowy decided to visit the hiring location the next morning.
