22nd Fleet Posts of the Month for September-October were announced on December 11th, and post "Rising with the sun" won Silver post of the month!
Summary of posts during December:
Jaslyn approached Cainan at the refugee camp during Elinowy's performance and drew him away to speak privately. Cainan recognized, but could not place, Jaslyn. Prepared to defend herself from attack, Jaslyn explained she was the elf convicted of murdering his gambling partner Marchal, but was recruitment into the Grey Wardens. Cainan recalled discovering after the fact that his friend had been taking out his anger over gambling losses on his wife, but Cainan had neglected to consider the secondary consequences of own actions. Jaslyn asked for his help in approaching Captain Richelieu, whom she believed may know something about elves disappearing. Cainan agreed.
Martin brought his templar-friend Gauvain to the Raven's Roost for a drink and introduced him to Kalian and Elinowy. Kalian squirmed in the templar's presence. Martin and Gauvain, long-time friends, traded insults, jokes, and stories, including Kalian in their camaraderie. Elinowy asked Kalian's sister Tessa for help with a disguise. Elinowy and Tessa went next door to Tessa's home, and Elinowy chose old clothing she deemed suitable. Meanwhile, Gauvain mentioned that some templars were hunting an apostate and told stories, including how Martin had exposed a scandal in which a powerful person was abusing male prostitutes, resulting in Martin making a powerful enemy.
Martin, Kalian, and Elinowy assembled at the Raven's Roost tavern and ate breakfast. Elinowy's disguise is tight and revealing, with the unintended consequence of suggesting prostitution is her profession. Kalian's niece helps him choose 'Korbyn' as a fake name, and they set off.
Elinowy, Martin, and Korbyn (aka Kalian) head out of town toward the location Isla the refugee said they could find the dwarf recruiting for the mysterious work. Meanwhile, dwarven warrior and sailor Rhiannon Cadash had arrived in Jader on the sailing ship Night's Kiss, where she is second to the Captain - her mother, who received a contract request from a dwarf named Roxa. Rhiannon sets out by horseback with a four-dwarf escort, and encounters Elinowy, Martin, and 'Korbyn' on the road. After some humorous attempts to share horses and assumptions about Elinowy's vocation, the group traveled together.
The group found Carta dwarf Roxa and her qunari bodyguard Gangue waiting with a wagon. Roxa greeted Rhiannon and explained to the three humans the job is mining, which is why it pays so well. Elinowy, Martin, and Korbyn/Kalian got in the wagon. Roxa flattered Rhiannon, then outlined her contract for a ship to transport crates on a regular basis. Rhiannon accepted Roxa's invitation to return with her to the mining camp with her escort and they followed while Gangue drove the wagon. Roxa questioned Elinowy about her profession and Elinowy mentioned her experience managing accounts and staffing. Rhiannon cleverly deflected Gangue's challenge to a test of skill.
